Yes. India does not permit dual citizenship. If you acquire South African citizenship (or citizenship of any other country), you are legally required to renounce your Indian citizenship. Failure to do so is an offence under the Indian Citizenship Act. Upon renunciation, you will receive a Renunciation Certificate. You may then apply for an OCI card which provides many of the benefits of Indian citizenship without full citizenship status. We assist with the complete renunciation process.
